Fourth Grade Lessons
Classics for Kids Project
Students are composing music digitally for Ms. Dale's music class. They will use the website "Classics for Kids" to compose their music. Each student must end their composition on a "G" note and be sure to click "Visual Aid" to help assist with each measure.
How the World Works
Students will work with a partner to choose an invention to research. They will gather information in their research about how this technology has changed over time, how magnetism helped create this change, and what impact these changes have on our environment today. Students will create a Powerpoint presentation to share their findings.
Who We Are
Students will work individually to collect information about landforms focusing on regions of North Carolina. They will collect data about existing landforms and discover several on their own.
Sharing The Planet
Students are taking a trip to the zoo where they will use their experience to write a nonfiction narrative from an animals' perspective. Students will use WWF website to research animal adaptations while focusing on citing their sources of information. They will use this information to write a persuasive "Note from the Author" for their narrative.
North Carolina Symphony
All fourth graders will be attending the NC Symphony Tuesday, April 30th. Students will use the Philharmonic website where they will be able to learn more about famous composers while discovering the different ways a piece of music can sound when played by different instruments.
Hour of Code
Students will be introduce to techniques for writing their own computer programs. They will learn the basic concepts of Computer Science with drag and drop programming. This is a game-like, self-directed tutorial where students will learn repeat-loops, conditionals, and basic algorithms.
Students will complete a Digital Passport for internet safety. They will also use Netsmartz to follow Clicky through NetSmartz to learn about internet safety. They will choose a video and play interactive activities on NetSmartz to learn more about staying safe while using the internet. Students will share what they learned with the class.
We will be taking some time over the next couple days to investigate and learn more about earth materials, the rock cycle, and fossils. Your goal is to complete all 7 activities. You may complete them in any order you choose. Use your note sheet to identify information about what you learned from each activity.
Show Me The Money
Students will expand their vocabulary and understanding of Economics and Government by participating in activities found in the Kid Friendly Resources.
Where We Are in Place and Time
Students will explore the virtual life of a slave on a plantation in the year 1860. They will use this webquest to gather information about the Underground Railroad and document their experience.
