How the World Works
Students are learning about how the natural world affects our physical world. Students will click the link below to transform the weather and observe the effects different types of weather have on objects and characters from Cat in the Hat. Once students are able to observe the effects weather has on our physical world, they will use this information to help them determine how we can best prepare ourselves for these conditions by helping Cailou dress for different types of weather.
Who We Are - Maps
Students are learning about maps. They will be using different types of maps to locate places and things. Students will also use information they gather to design their own maps.
Sharing the Planet
Students will explore different habitats around the world. They will navigate through the habitat to learn about plants and animals within that habitat. Students will use Fetch! to create a digital habitat for one of the animals they researched.
How We Express Ourselves
Students are inquiring ways we discover and express ideas, feelings, and creativity. They will be studying various fairy tales to learn how morals and lessons can be taught through writing. They will re-create one of their favorite fairy tales using puppets they created. They will get to record their fairy tale and use a green screen background.
Hour of Code
Students will be introduce to techniques for writing their own computer programs. They will learn the basic concepts of Computer Science with drag and drop programming. This is a game-like, self-directed tutorial where students will learn repeat-loops, conditionals, and basic algorithms.
How We Organize Ourselves
Students will learn how to use and navigate Scholastic Keys. They will create a collage titled "Need or Greed" to help them better understand the differences between needs and wants.
Students will use follow Clicky through NetSmartz to learn about internet safety. They will choose a video and play interactive activities on NetSmartz to learn more about staying safe while using the internet. Students will share what they learned with the class.

Marvelous, Marvelous Me - Students designed an "All About Me" presentation using Scholastic Keys.
