How We Express Ourselves
Students will use the "Magic School Bus: In the Haunted House" to help make connections between sound and vibrating objects. They will gather information to create their own sounds using a digital music maker and do a "gallery walk" to share music they have made. (2.P.1)
Measurement and Fractions
Students will explore units of measurement and fractions.
Sharing the Planet
Students are researching life cycles and animal habitats. They will use the information on this website to learn about how an animals habitat determines the types of adaptations the animal makes to survive. Students will use this information to discover how animals in our own communities adapt to our growing populations.
How We Organize Ourselves
Students are developing their understanding of community needs. They will work with a partner to complete ten units using BrainPOP Jr. They will focus supply and demand, goods and services, and how each of these economic concepts effect the other.
Hour of Code
Students will be introduce to techniques for writing their own computer programs. They will learn the basic concepts of Computer Science with drag and drop programming. This is a game-like, self-directed tutorial where students will learn repeat-loops, conditionals, and basic algorithms.
How The World Works
Students are exploring scientific properties of matter. They are focusing on solids and liquids. They will use the BBC link below to experiment with these concepts to draw an understanding of the structure and properties of matter before and after they undergo a change.
Where We Are In Place And Time
Students will work with a partner to collect data about their class. They will create an Excel Spreadsheet to graph this data. Students will import their Spreadsheet into a PowerPoint to share their information with their classmates.
How We Organize Ourselves
Students will work together to create and organize their own country. They will decide the type of government, history, currency, flag, laws, etc. Students will use this information to problem solve certain financial issues which arise in their country. Students will use the artifacts they have created to share their new nation with the class.
Students will use follow Clicky through NetSmartz to learn about internet safety. They will choose a video and play interactive activities on NetSmartz to learn more about staying safe while using the internet. Students will share what they learned with the class.
Who We Are
Students used Microsoft PowerPoint to create a presentation about themselves. They included their history, information about their family, and fun facts about themselves in their presentation. Once completed, students created a digital portfolio for their work.
Online Reading - Just Books
Students are able to access multiple online reading resources including ebooks and read alouds available in a variety of languages.
